Ubuntu Enigmail 0.96.0

Postby rainydayz » 17th Jul 2009 14:02

I've built Enigmail for Seamonkey on Ubuntu. It was built on Jaunty (9.04) but I installed the i686 XPI on an instance of Hardy (8.04 LTS) and it appears to be ok.
Remember you'll need to start Seamonkey as root and remove the older version of Enigmail before installing this.

Here are the URLs :

* Enigmail for Seamonkey on Ubuntu i686 (32 bit) (sig)
* Enigmail for Seamonkey on Ubuntu AMD64 (64 bit) (sig)

All files are signed using my key id=0xA622D452 which can be downloaded from here or by using one of the OpenSKS keyservers (such as keyserver.rainydayz.org).

Thanks rainydayz for making enigmail for 64-bit SM available.
I tested it on Hardy 64-bit but 0.96.0 xpi doesn`t work. (does not display certificates)
I tested both default SM 1.1.15+patches and new hand-made 1.1.7 (being prepared to release , compiled from ppa source).
I can try to compile it myself, will see to it to reconstruct your making process from site..

I know that earlier versions were fairly dependant upon being built with the same compiler as Seamonkey was built with, I don't have a 64-bit install of Hardy unfortunately.
If I get time I'll try to install a 64-bit instance of Hardy in a virtual machine and build it with that.

OH MY God..
Button "Display All keys by default" was not selected! :D
When I selected it, it displays OpenPGP keys I have! ;)
And it seems everything is working with your 64-bit .xpi on Ubuntu 64-bit 8.04.3/Hardy and
Seamonkey 1.1.15 from repository. :P
Now I installed SM 1.1.17 (compiled from PPA, pre release) and .xpi also works!
Also, your .xpi works, so it can stay there and also .xpi that I made works, too :)

I am puzzled why SM was crashing with enigmail yesterday, maybe some update is done in meantime
or it was the fact that my graphics stopped working and I had to reinstall it (it makes .deb`s from Ati 9.3 installer).
Maybe it was because I reinstalled 1.1.15 from synaptic and it pulled it from Gnomefreak`s PPA..
After that I removed Gnomfreak PPA from repositories list and voila! :)

Anyway Button "always display all keys by default" maybe should be ON by default,
maybe we could change it to make it ON when enigmail turns on.
or post a bug to change it in source for all version or something.
I used to use enigmail for ages and took me 2 days (and hours of compiling again)
to realize I should turn on that switch ;)

One thing I just have to mention is that when displaying pictures in mail that were being send encrypted,
they display inline inside decrypted mail in inbox, like pictures and after 2 seconds disappear.
Wouldn`t they suppose to stay displayed inside message?
This behavior was in previous version, also (0.95.7). I don`t know is it enigmail bug or just 64-bit one.
How encrypted messages are displayed in 32-bit enigmail on Sm?

Anyway, rainydayz, you made my day again! And also, I think I know now to make that .xpi myself ;)
also, I am eager to do some testing for both 32 and 64 bit, all versions, from virtualbox or Xen.
Thanks again! ;)
