[fixed] kmail / enigmail problem?

Postby muzel » 30th Oct 2007 21:02

Hi,

newer versions of Enigmail seem to have problems to verify signatures made by kmail. It was also reported here
http://www.thunderbird-mail.de/forum/vi ... &highlight

I sent an signed/encrypted mail with KMail/1.9.5.
Thunderbird 2.0.0.5/Enigmail 0.952 (Suse 10.2 x64) could decrypt and verify signature, TB 2.0.0.6/Enigmail 0.95.5 (Ubuntu 7.04) only showed "decrypted message", nothing about the signature.
kmail uses pgp/mime, I suppose.

That's a very old known problem. It cannot be resolved with the current Mozilla infrastructure without rewriting all of Enigmail. I hope to resolve it once Thunderbird 3.0 will be available. See https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=5777 for details.

It's possible that Enigmail v0.95.2 could verify the signature and newer versions don't -- it's to some degree random if such messages get verified or not.

Will the problem be solved?

If you followed the link you would have noticed that this was fixed with Enigmail v0.96.0 (for Thunderbird 2) ...

Sorry.
Tested, sign/crypt works in both directions (TB <-> kmail ).
In TB you have to click twice the "decrypt" button, first to decrypt, and then to verify signature - anyway, thanks a lot for this important fix!
