Enigmail for T-bird 3.1?

In the course of the (admittedly risky) business of changing over my environment to T-bird 3, the lastest and greatest version I downloaded for my 32-bit laptop running U 9.10 was 3.1 (rev:1.9.3a1pre). When I tried to install the nighty Enigmail for 3.0, T-bird rejected it as incompatible. Looks like the Lightning latest and greatest is also incompatible. More joy.

There are nightly builds of Enigmail for Thunderbird trunk at http://enigmail.mozdev.org/download/nightly.php.

Yes, I know and had tried that. Just tried again to install the nighty on my 32-bit ThinkPad, which produces this message:

"Enigmail 1.0.1 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Shredder 3.1a1pre."

I was able to install the Lightning nighty to this version, so that's some progress. It doesn't actually work, after all, but it does at least install.

Perhaps this version of Shredder is just a bridge too far at the moment?

Are you sure you installed the Enigmail version for Trunk and not for stable Thunderbird? Compatibility is set to match current Lanikai builds. You might have issues though if the file is already in your browser cache; deleting the cache might help.

Ah-ha! Quite right. I've reinstalled using Lanikai, cleared cache, and now get:

"Enigmail 1.0.1 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Lanikai 3.1a1."

The Lanikai "About" thingy confirms it is "version 3.1a1".

The abbreviated file info for Enigma: "1222286 Mar 1 05:20 enigmail-1.0.1-tb-linux.xpi"

Again, the nighty for Lightening does install but does not appear anywhere mentioned after restarted.

You're still trying to download the regular version for Thunderbird 3.0. You're not even trying to look at the page I gave you. The file you need to install for Linux is this: http://mozilla-enigmail.org/download/ni ... -trunk.xpi

I most certainly was looking at the page you indicated. What I didn't notice was that the Lanai download option becomes visible only when the grab-bar at the right is pulled down to reveal it in my browser ( Firefox 3.5.8 ). And yes, that install worked correctly. Thanks very much for your help.
