passphrase

Could someone tell me if and how the passphrase
which is needed to activate the encryption is encrypted itself.
Under keymanagement, select my key (right button), change paraphrase, I
can, but I do not have the impression that this is somehow encrypted, or
I am wrong?

The key is encrypted with your passphrase. And I believe you want to know whether the passphrase is stored in clear in your system; no, it isn't.
