Extend Per-Recipient Rules Editor

Postby BigMike » 25th Dec 2008 00:51

Hi,
I'd like to request a feature, that allows easier handling of combined use of GPG/PGP and S/MIME when using per-recipient rules.

Since you cannot use GPG/PGP and S/MIME in the same mail, it would be nice if you would split the "sign always" option to "sign always (GPG/PGP)" and "sign always (S/MIME)" and corresponding "encrypt always" to , "encrypt always (GPG/PGP)", "encrypt always (S/MIME)"
and let EnigMail also handle the signing/encrypting options from S/MIME, when a corresponding rule exists.

This will not only reduce the error messages, telling the user, that the mail can't be sent with a combination of GPG/PGP and S/MIME, when he tries to send a mail, because all rules with only always/never combinations could be set up by EnigMail automatically while sending and false configurations could be handled once, when the rule is created, but also add per-recipient rules for S/MIME (a feature, that I miss in Thunderbird and, I think there's no addon, which adds this functionality).

Thank you,
BigMike

ClearSigning and S/MIME will work together; only PGP/MIME & S/MIME cannot be used together. You may configure S/MIME signing in Thunderbird under 'Account Settings' under 'Security'.
